Consistency In Fitness
Consistency In Fitness
When people think about how to get the best, long-lasting results in health and fitness, the secret lies in having to be perfect all the time. “Live and breathe fitness” right? But that is not the case at all.
The secret is in the consistency and what people think being consistent means. Being consistent is showing up continuously. Being consistent is not having to be perfect all the time.
In the fitness world, this can mean that you show up on days when you don’t want to, or you are a little more tired. There will be days when you are tired, busy, travelling, stressed, or just not feeling it. Life happens, and that is ok. Modifying your workouts according to what is happening in your week is ok.
Let’s say you do a shorter version of your workout, change it completely to something else, or even cut it in half; you still showed up. In a year, that one day where you did 2 sets instead of 3 of the one exercise is not going to be the reason you didn’t get your results or where you wanted.
The problem starts when you don’t show up at all because you don’t feel like it, and then that turns into 2 days, then into a week, then you are in the “I’ll start next week/next month/next Monday” cycle.
There is no need to stress about not being perfect all the time. Find a routine that works for you, try it and adjust as you see fit, then stick to it. Even if there are days when you need to modify things, you still show up, keep the habit and the momentum going. That is consistency.
