Probiotic VS Prebiotic
Probiotic vs Prebiotic
“Probiotics are specific living microorganisms, most often bacteria or yeast, that help the body digest food or help with symptoms of certain illnesses. Probiotics are naturally found in fermented foods such as yogurt and sauerkraut.
Prebiotics are parts of food that the body doesn't digest, but that may be used by microorganisms. Prebiotics may trigger the growth of the "good" germs in the gut. Prebiotics are mainly found in high-fibre foods.”
Prebiotics are non digrestible fibers that act as both food and a vessel for gut bacteria to grow and consume. Probiotics are the live microorganisms found in fermented foods and supplements. Prebiotics can be seen as fertilizer for the probiotics, and both will work together, called synbiotics.
