Group Exercise Benefits

Group Exercise Benefits

Researchers found working out in a group lowers stress by 26 percent and significantly improves the quality of life, while those who exercise individually put in more effort but experienced no significant changes in their stress level and a limited improvement to the quality of life, according to a study published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association.”

Often times there are solitary exercises that we just have to grind through but when we have a team cheering us on, we are able to exert extra effort.
In this study, a  group of 69  medical students was able to select a twelve-week group exercise program, and a small select control group within was told to abstain from group exercise but were able to walk or cycle. Every four weeks the students would take a survey and found that three categories found large improvements in the students who were able to do group exercises; being mental increased by 12.6%, physical by 24.8%, and emotional by 26%.

There is a benefit to having a custom individual plan but there is also merit in having social activities.
